South Beach New Diet Plan
South Beach Diet teaches a way of life where you rely on the right carbohydrates and fats. This new way of eating allows you to live contently without eating the bad carbohydrates and fats.
South Beach Diet is “not just a diet, it is a way to eat for life.” His philosophy involves learning to not so much eliminate carbs, but choose the right carbs such as whole grains, fruits and veggies. It also states that we must choose the right fats, like olive oils, and choose lean sources of protein like fish and chicken.
Although a glamorous name the South Beach Diet involves a high degree of determination and self motivation. It appears to be scientifically based and is rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean protein, and it doesn’t omit any major food groups.
Phases of South Beach Diet
There are basically three phases in this Diet:
Phase 1, The Strictest Phase of The Diet: You eat normal portion sizes but all carbohydrate is restricted. This is the strictest phase in the diet. Low-Glycemic-index vegetables are allowed as well as low-fat cheese, nuts.
Phase 2, More Liberal Phase Lasts Until You Reach Your Weight Loss Goal: Some of the banned food is slowly introduced while weight loss continues to around 1-2 pounds per week.
Phase 3, Weight Maintenance: It is for maintenance and should be followed for life. Is all about maintaining your desired weight with a healthy balanced diet.
For each phase, there are no limits on portion sizes – you simply eat enough to satisfy your appetite – and you’re encouraged to eat three meals and snacks each day.
Once you get pass the initial phase, however, there are fewer dietary restrictions than some other new Diet Plans. No major food groups are eliminated, plenty of fruit and vegetables are recommended and generally the diet follows the basic principles of healthy eating with the result that it should provide plenty of the nutrients you need to stay healthy.
Drawbacks of the South Beach
- It doesn’t fully cater for people who don’t or can’t eat dairy.
- Most of the world outside America thrives on complex carbohydrates.
Like the Body-For-Life diet, The South Beach Diet promotes strategic snacking. A balance diet and healthy lifestyle combining exercise is vital to maintaining weight loss.
